Miss Show Girl Winner 2015 - Taleesha Fegatilli

By the time I was sure I wanted to enter the Cairns Miss Show Girl competition, it was the day nominations closed. I had actually thought to myself that maybe it wasn't meant to be and that I wouldn't enter at all, and do you know what? I couldn't be happier that I ignored that silly negativity we so often have!  miss_showgirl

I have been lucky enough to have been named the 2015 Cairns Miss Show Girl, and in my short time of having that title, I have been given the opportunity to do the most amazing things!

After the first event - where due to my nerves I bumped a table, knocking over a few full tea cups and wine glasses - I remember 2014 winner, Holly Logan, saying how she never thought she would win and how much her life had changed. I can literally say the same words, as it felt like no time at all after the announcements that my schedule became full of events, photo shoots, and interviews! I had front page of my local newspaper and watched myself speak on TV! It was incredible!

I was invited as a special guest to the Cairns Show for three days, where I attended a large variety of events, modelled fascinators, and wined and dined with some of the most influential and accomplished people in our communities.

On the last day of the Cairns show, I was announced as the Miss Show Girl for the Far North Queensland Sub-Chamber, which took me to the Brisbane Ekka! Further than what I could have ever dreamed!

I only had two short weeks after the Cairns show before I flew to Brisbane, where I spent 5 days with 10 of Queensland best young ladies. We had morning tea at Government House, toured QLD Country Life office, where we were able to grab the newspaper (With our faces on the front page!) hot off the press! We mingled with guests at charity events, toured Parliament House, and had full access to all the events at the Ekka Showgrounds!

My highlight of the whole experience was meeting so many new friends, and being involved in so many events I couldn't even have dreamed of, and it was all because of the hard work and dedication of the Cairns Show Society and the Miss Show Girl competition.

In my short time being the Cairns Miss Show Girl, I am in awe of the increase in my confidence, how my dreams and plans have gotten bigger, and how much knowledge and understanding I have gained in the importance of our shows.

I truly look forward to whatever else this year has to offer, and encourage everyone to become involved in their local show, because it can quite literally change your life.
