|Miss Show Girl 2008 Winner - Nicole Lister|
Entering the Miss Showgirl Competition has been one of the most rewarding experiences I have participated in. Since winning the competition, I have met many new people and made a lot of new friends all over Queensland. It has been a fantastic journey for me and I would highly encourage other young ladies to become involved.
Not only is the Miss Showgirl competition a great way to support the Cairns Show, but also a way to boost self-confidence in public speaking and learn many lifelong skills along the way.
After winning the sub-chamber competition I was given the opportunity to represent my local and regional Show society at the Ekka, held in Brisbane. This was a fantastic experience as it was my first time ever at the Brisbane Show.
As my Showgirl journey continued on, I had the pleasure of visiting the Governor's house and meeting Governor Penny Wensley. This was just one of the five fantastic days I spent in Brisbane with the 11 other Show Girl finalists. We all have kept in touch and since have created the very first Miss Showgirl Calendar which we hope will raise the awareness of this competition to other young ladies.
Becoming involved in this competition has enabled me to participate in these exceptional opportunities that I would not have had otherwise. The Miss Showgirl competition has brought me new friendships and a more meaningful involvement in not only the show society but in the Cairns community. It has been a great memorable journey of which I would love for others to experience.
