FOOD VENDORS

We are NOT accepting any new food vendors at this time. Any new food vendor applications that are received will be placed on the waitlist.

All food vehicles/sites etc., must have a current “Food Business License” certificate.

Details of all food vendors will be supplied to the Cairns Regional Council at 60 and 30 days out from the Event. Health Inspectors will be on site to check that all certificates and permits are current for each food site. Further information regarding food safety and licensing can be found from the Cairns Regional Council website.

Food Vendors will also need to engage a certified gas professional to ensure all gas-related installations, connections and maintenance are safe to use. We will be requesting a valid compliance certificate at the time of application that meets the AS/NZS 5601 gas installation safety standards.

ILLEGAL DISPOSAL OF COOKING OIL – FINES APPLICABLE

Waste from grease and oil arrestors, other than treated effluent from approved installations (section 13.2 Cairns Regional Council—Water and Waste, Trade Management Plan), shall not be disposed of to the sewerage system.

Such wastes shall be disposed of in a manner and/or at a site approved in accordance with requirements of the Environmental Protection Act 1994 and the Environmental Protection Regulation 2019 and operated in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Protection (Waste Management) Regulation 2000.

More information on trade waste can be found on the Cairns Regional Council website.

It has come to our attention that some food vendors are negligible in the manner in which they dispose of cooking oils. To this end we have imposed a fine of $2,000, for anyone found disposing of cooking oils illegally on the Showgrounds.
