GENERAL SHOW INFORMATION

 

SHOW DATES

The 2025 Cairns Show will commence Wednesday 16th, Thursday 17th and Friday 18th of July.

 

OPENING / CLOSING TIMES

Cairns Show gates open daily at 9am and close at 9pm just before the Fireworks.

Gate Entrances can be found on the Transport & Access Info tab or the Cairns Show Map.

SIDESHOW ALLEY BONUS DOLLARS

  • Bonus Dollars are NOT available for purchase online.
  • One sheet of Bonus Dollars are $25 for a $30 value.
  • Bonus Dollars may only be used in Sideshow Alley at the Cairns Show, and can be redeemed on the following:
  1. Rides, Food and Games.
  2. NOT redeemable on Showbags. 
  • Bonus Dollars are not transferable and cannot be replaced if lost, stolen or misplaced. Unused tickets are non-refundable. 

 

WHEEL CHAIR / TROLLEY HIRE

Wheel chairs and/or trolleys are NOT available for hire

 

EFTPOS CASH OUT

Eftpos terminal locations please refer to Show Map, OR;

  • Immediately inside the Main Gate Entrance in front of the Cairns Show office
  • Outside the 4CA Fred Moule Exhibition Centre
  • Immediately inside the Scott St Entrance behind Sideshow Alley Rides.

 

SMOKING

The Cairns Showground is a smoke-free environment. Smoking in only permitted in signed, designated areas.

Please refer to the Show Map.

On-the-spot Fines and potential removal from grounds can be issued for non-compliance.

CLOAKROOM

Located next to the Show Office, just inside the Main Gates on Mulgrave Road, Volunteers from the FNQ Hospital Foundation will happily provide you with information on where to find things and look after all your show goodies while you continue to enjoy yourself.

All proceeds will go to the FNQ Hospital Foundation.

There is Free Sunscreen available.

 

DOGS & ANIMALS

  • Dogs & Animals are NOT PERMITTED at the Cairns Show!

If you bring an animal with you to the Cairns Show you will be denied entry.

Animals are not permitted for safety and Biosecurity reasons.

  • EXCEPTIONS: Service & Guide Dogs, or Animals approved for medical purposes (certificate/identification of approval will need to be shown to gate staff/security).

Competitors competing in the Cairns Show Association Dog Show Championship will be able to enter the Dog Show/Campgrounds areas only – please enter via Quigley St. 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

 

GENERAL

  1. A reference to “CAPMA” in these Terms and Conditions is to The Cairns Agricultural, Pastoral and Mining Association ABN 14 009 656 222 trading as The Cairns Show Association, Cairns Show and the Cairns Showgrounds.
  2. By purchasing a Cairns Show Ticket through CAPMA or its authorised agents you are acknowledging and agreeing to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, the General Terms and Conditions for Ticket Sales and Entry as well as any other conditions specified by the CAPMA on its website.
  3. The Ticket is issued for use at the 2024 Cairns Show from Wednesday 17th to Friday 19th of July. 
  4. A Ticket allows single (1) entry for that Ticket type only.
  5. CAPMA is not liable to give a refund or exchange the Ticket for cancellation of any reason.
  6. The 2024 Cairns Show will be operated in accordance with applicable Queensland Health directions in place at the time of the event, which are subject to change. Customers must comply with these requirements in place at the time of the event.
  7. The operation of some attractions may be affected by adverse weather conditions or maintenance activity.
  8. CAPMA reserves the right to add, withdraw or substitute artists, displays, exhibitions and attractions and/or vary advertised programs, prices, seating arrangements and audience capacity.
  9. CAPMA reserves the right to add, withdraw and/or limit the number of Tickets sold on promotion at any stage.

 

ENTRY

CAPMA reserves the right to inspect all bags and containers being brought into the Cairns Showgrounds and refuse entry to any person carrying any item that in the CAPMA’s absolute discretion is dangerous or prohibited.

  1. CAPMA reserves the right to refuse entry to any person whose Ticket is damaged, has been defaced in any way, does not have a fully visible barcode, or was not obtained through a Ticket seller authorised by CAPMA. List of authorised Ticket seller can be found on this page.
  2. CAPMA reserves the right to require the presentation of valid and current ID such as an Australian driver’s licence, Australian passport, or proof of age on a Concession, Child or Child (under 5) Ticket. Carer with a valid carer or companion card receives free entry if accompanying disabled person (1 carer per person). 
  3. Persons entering the Cairns Showgrounds do so at their own risk. CAPMA accepts no liability for any injury, loss or damage to any person or thing.
  4. Persons entering the Cairns Showgrounds waive all rights in relation to any photograph, image, or likeness of them produced whilst attending the Cairns Show. CAPMA retains all rights in all images it produces.
  5. No alcohol or drugs of any type shall be brought on to the premises.
  6. Personal scooters (except mobility scooters), skateboards, bicycles, roller blades, hover boards, Segway’s or other equipment that may interfere with pedestrian traffic are not permitted.
  7. CAPMA reserves the right to refuse entry or remove guests from the Cairns Showgrounds for vandalism, stealing, offensive behaviour, failure to follow safety instructions or failure to comply with these terms & conditions.

 

TICKETS

  1. ALL Ticket types can be used for ONE DAY (Any Day) of the Cairns Show. 
  2. Pass outs are available for free at all gate entrances/exits within the Cairns Show precinct between 9am – 9pm. Pass outs may only be used for re-entry to the Cairns Showgrounds on the day of issue. Only one (1) Pass out is allowed for each Ticket holder. 
  3. Adult Ticket available to those aged 18 years of and over at time of entry. Valid for one single entry.
  4. Child Ticket available to children aged 5 years of age to under 14 years of age at time of entry. Valid for one single entry.
  5. Child (under 5) Ticket available to children under 5 years at time of entry. Valid for one single entry.
  6. Concession / Pension Ticket available to those with accepted concession cards (includes full-time students, seniors, and other concessions). You must present an accepted concession card on entry to the Show. Valid for one single entry.
  7. Family Pass includes 2 x Adult Tickets and 2 x Child Tickets. Adults and children must enter gate at the same time in order to use this Family Ticket. Children must be aged 5 years of age to under 14 years of age at time of entry. Valid for one single entry.

 

MEMBERSHIP(S)

  1. Membership is available for those who wish to become a Member of the Cairns Show Association.
  2. ALL Membership types can be used for THREE DAY entry of the Cairns Show. 
  3. 2024 Membership Application/Renewals open January 2024.
  4. 2024 Membership Application/Renewals close July 12th 2024.
  5. Membership year ending 31st December 2024.
  6. The Cairns Show Association has the right to refuse your Application. 
  7. Limited Applications are accepted.

By purchasing a Cairns Show Ticket, Membership, and/or Bonus Dollars, the holder agrees to the CAPMA Copyright, Privacy Policy and Disclaimer.

TRANSPORTATION & SHOWGROUNDS ACCESS

GATE ENTRACES
Gates are open from 9am – 9pm daily. Gate locations:

  • Corner of Severin St and Mulgrave Rd (Main Gates) Triple M Gate.
  • Quigley Street Snap Print Solutions Gate.
  • Mulgrave Rd (in front of the Fred Moule Exhibition Centre) Star 102.7 Gate.
  • Scott Street Hit 103.5 Gate.

 

TAXI RANKS
Cairns Taxis operate the following Taxi Ranks for your convenience:

  • Mulgrave Road, in front of the Cairns Youth Centre
  • Scott Street, near St Augustine’s College
  • Corner Mulgrave Road and Severin Street, outside Cairns Vacuum Centre horses

 

BUS STOPS
Sunbus Pickup and Drop Offs Points:

  • To the City – Mulgrave Road opposite the Show Ground Main Entrance
  • From the City – Mulgrave Road in front of the Cairns Youth Centre
  • Disabled Set down is the Corner of Mulgrave Road and Severin Street.

Please note: The bus stop directly outside the Showground Main Entrance is NOT in use during the Show.

 

DISABLED PARKING
Parking Bay Locations:

  • 5 bays in Severin Street, near Mulgrave Road
  • 5 bays in Severin street, outside St Augustine’s College Swimming Pool.

Message to Families

Lost Children

If you’re bringing littlies to enjoy the Show, help Police to re-unite the family if one gets lost. Obtain a wristband from the Police stand in the Fred Moule Exhibition Centre on the day and write your name and number. Make sure you have that mobile phone with you.

Please report your lost child to the Police Office, which is located under the Grandstand on the side near the De Jarlais Member’s Pavilion or the Police stand inside the Fred Moule Exhibition Centre.

Parents Room
The Feed and Change Room is open from 10am to 8pm each Show Day. Run by volunteer members of the Australian Breastfeeding Association, the Feed and Change Room offers an air conditioned room in which parents can change and feed their babies.

A microwave is available to warm milk, and chairs are set up to rest the weary feet of parents while they tend to their children. It is located near the Animal Nursery on the south side of the Show Ring.

A Parents Room is also located in the Fred Moule Exhibition Centre courtesy of PakMag. Located next to the PakMag stand, opposite the toilets.

Employment & Volunteering

Paid Work Opportunities

Unfortunately the Cairns Show Association DOES NOT offer Paid Work opportunities prior to, during, or after the Cairns Show. 

All food vendors, exhibitors, rides and stalls at the Cairns Show are privately owned and operated.

For Paid Work opportunities, you must contact the vendors directly. 

Rides, games and food stalls situated in the Sideshow Alley are operated under the Showmen’s Guild of Australasia.

To find Paid Work opportunities you must contact the Showmen’s Guild directly, or visit the Cairns Showgrounds the week prior to the Cairns Show and introduce yourself in person to the vendors around the grounds. 

The Showmen’s Guild regularly updates their Facebook page with any advertisements for Work opportunities.

PLEASE NOTE: 

The week prior to the Show is very busy at the Showgrounds.

If you are coming on to the grounds to find work, you must report to the Cairns Show Office prior to your arrival.

The Cairns Show Association does not take responsibility for any injury, theft or damage of property while you are on the grounds.

You must be cautious and careful AT ALL TIMES when visiting the Showgrounds prior to, during or after the Cairns Show.

Have you ever thought about having a very satisfying experience by becoming a volunteer?

The Cairns Show Association is a Not-For-Profit organisation and Charity which as been supported throughout the years by hundreds of hours of voluntary work. The Cairns Annual Show is a huge event, which could not be staged without the help of a tireless community of volunteers.

Be rewarded by being part of a team who puts together the largest regional show in Australia.

Complimentary Ticket Requests

NOTICE: Complimentary Ticket Request will be accepted via email only, please do not use the contact form.

The Cairns Show Association is pleased to offer Free Complimentary Admission Tickets to select Disability School/Groups or Aged Care Services in Cairns. While the Association tries to accommodate each Request, only select few are accepted each year. To enter, please read the following:

To be Eligible:

  • You must be associated with or represent a Disability School/Group or Aged Care Service (no other person, business, school, non-for-profit, or organisation will be accepted).

To Enter:

  • You must Present your Request on your Business Letterhead (attached to email) with;
  • Subject line: Cairns Show Complimentary Ticket Request, detailing;
  • How many Tickets you will need for your Members (remember, Companion Card Holders receive Free Entry with any one Ticket) as well as;
  • What your Business is about and;
  • How the Tickets will benefit your Disability Group also;
  • Add any relevant information you think will benefit your Request.
  • Once ready, send your Request to [email protected] (please ensure your Letter Head is attached).

Dates & Deadlines:

  • Applications Open: 1st of February
  • Typically, Applications Close: Friday of the Second Week of June (6 Weeks prior to the Cairns Show)
  • In 2025 all Ticket Requests will need to be received by: 7th June 2025
  • No late applications will be accepted!
