Mayor’s Christmas Hamper Packing

The spirit of Christmas will once again fill the Fred Moule Pavilion as volunteers come together for the 2026 Mayor’s Christmas Charity Hamper Packing Day.Each year, this wonderful community initiative brings together local volunteers, businesses, service organisations and community groups to prepare hundreds of Christmas hampers for Cairns residents doing it tough over the festive season. In 2025, more than 100 volunteers packed 910 hampers at the Cairns Showgrounds, following an incredible fundraising effort that raised more than $94,000 through the generosity of the Cairns community.Filled with essential food items, festive treats, gifts and everyday necessities, the hampers are distributed through local charities and support agencies to families, seniors, carers and others who may otherwise go without at Christmas. The Cairns Show Association is proud to once again welcome this special community event to the Fred Moule Pavilion in 2026 and to play a small part in bringing a little extra Christmas cheer to people across our region. For information about how to become involved in the 2026 Mayor’s Christmas Charity, please contact Cairns Regional Council.
